Boys vs. Girls

awkward pictures! sorry crap lighting at 3am
top: Anthropology; tank: AE; jeans: found denim; boots (not pictured): ugg

To be honest, I'm not great with guys. I'm ok, I can put sentences together in their presence, but I don't know. I'm not that girl, you know that girl. No matter how much I try I just can't come of as aloof and mysterious nor sweet and giggly. That's the thing, I try. That girl doesn't try. She just is.

Last night me and a few friends went to meet some guys, some friends of a friend or whatever, and I did my best to take my friends advice, "you know, dress casually. Wear tight jeans and like a tight t-shirt or whatever." The thing is, my style doesn't seem to be boy approved. This summer I put on a high waisted skirt and my friend Arthur proceeded to try and pull it down. He then decided it was too long once pulled down and told me just to change the skirt. I said no, I like the skirt just the way it was. But tonight I wanted to be boy approved, especially since this was my first impression. So, I picked out some tight jeans and a cute pink t shirt. It's not my favorite outfit but its comfy and I think the puff sleeves are a cute detail. I couldn't tell you whether this outfit was boy approved or not in the end, but I guess it did ok.

It's a great outfit =) and guys are just a pain- they don't really understand fashion haha we like looking pretty but they have a totally different idea of it. Jeans and t-shirt apparently are great, but they also like it when girls put on a nice dress... sigh....

Listen, first of all high school dudes don't know anything about fashion so don't get offended about a guy pulling down your awesome high waisted skirt. Second, guys are so insecure in themselves in high school, that they usually don't know what they want and I think you should just work on feeling good about yourself in whatever your wearing and the guys will come. I remember I was a little bit of an odd duckiling wearing weird things and just really hyper in high school and I didn't care about the guys because I thought they were all boring but then I moved to NYC when I was 18 and I found guys that were interesting and liked me for me. It will all come together, don't worry. Just be yourself!

I'm in the same rut! It's important to dress they way you want, because in a while you'll meet a boy who really loves you. Plus, at this age, boys aren't that important. They're so immature compared to us. :)

you look cute! i don't understand guys much at all, i'm def 100% a girl's girl! and i just can't be bothered to try either, if some guy doesn't like me the way i am then he's the wrong guy! that's my theory anyway :)

Never compromise your style for a guy, they know nothing about fashion and even the best ones are just not worth it

Boys don't get it, girls dress for other girls and themselves! I always feel that the boys who don't approve of my personal style won't approve of me, b/c my clothes are a reflection of me--so they're not worth my time. :)

it's such a shame that boys can be so blind to fashion that they are impressed by jeans and a tshirt!!! i say dress how you want and then you will find the right guy for you, he won't care how you dress, or better still, he will like your style!

The shirt is cute, but you should just stick to your own style. You'll probably be more comfortable around the guys if you just wear what you like to wear. I'm not really that great with guys, either.

I like the creative lighting in these pictures :)

it's okay not to be that girl because those girls are annoying. am always a fan of puffed sleeves!

I think you look great--it's fitted and is really flattering on you plus it's simple and chic and most guys like simple (but wouldn't be able to tell the chic part, of course).

just wear what you like. if you want to wear a highwaisted skirt, go for it! i think it's awesome when girls stand up for their own creativity against the mainstream fashion. :)

i can't remember the last time i was up at 3am. haha but boys do have a different view on clothes and what girls should wear. but you gotta find one who doesn't care and accepts your style for what it is. FM always teases me about my outfits but he lets me wear anything i want. don't worry...you'll find a cool guy who will think your great. ;)

Aha, they approved it, I think... But they are weird, weird in my eyes becuse they can't understand women's sense for fashion. Most of the boys I know like a skinny tees so they can see a boobies ( sooo sttuuupiiid) or sooo short skirt in which you can0t sit normally if you won't to show them your back... I always say if He don't like my style, He shouldn't be interested in me - the great boy will love you even if you wear horrible stuff! :)))
Hugs. Nice post anyway!

High school boys are stupid!! Your style is fab the way it is! Trust me, you don't need to dress a certain way to be 'boy approved' the good boys will want a girl with a fashion sense!
